Guidelines: Download template and instructions

This interdisciplinary call for papers seeks to examine how literary, philosophical, and other mediums interrogate and embody strategies as well as imagine alternative futures in the literature across the globe. In the midst of pandemics and crisis, envisioning the future of literature can become an act to rethink humanity’s future. From travel narratives, speculative fictions, climate change fictions, post-apocalyptic fictions, etc., envisaging the future requires a radical change of the humanities’ terrain and tends to a rethinking of its future in today’s world. Emerging from positions of precarity and vulnerability such as isolation, trauma, or even the storytelling of adaption and translation can envision multiple and varied futures for Comparative Literature both for individuals and societies.

Topics and approaches may include, but not limited to:

  • World literature
  • Transformations and transcendence
  • Migration
  • Translation and adaptions
  • Speculative fiction, climate fiction (cli-Fi), and science fiction
  • Travel narratives
  • Environmental Humanities and Post humanities
  • Identity and Cultural Theory
  • Gender and Feminist Studies
  • Postcolonial studies
  • Arts and Aesthetics
  • Digital Humanities and Digital Studies
  • Continental Philosophy

Submissions should be in English, Spanish, or Portuguese.
